Johnson says there\u2019s a reference of pumpkin pie topped with marshmallows in Good Housekeeping that dates back to 1912.<\/p>\n

It may be the \u201cSouth\u2019s signature dessert,\u201d according to Southern Living, but people all over the U.S. enjoy servings of gooey pecan pie on Thanksgiving.<\/p>\n

\u6839\u636e\u300a\u5357\u65b9\u751f\u6d3b\u300b\uff0c\u6838\u6843\u6d3e\u4e5f\u8bb8\u662f\u201c\u5357\u90e8\u6807\u5fd7\u6027\u7684\u751c\u54c1\u201d\u3002\u4f46\u662f\uff0c\u5168\u7f8e\u56fd\u7684\u4eba\u90fd\u559c\u6b22\u5728\u611f\u6069\u8282\u8fd9\u4e00\u5929\u4eab\u7528\u9ecf\u9ecf\u7684\u6838\u6843\u6d3e\u3002<\/p>\n

According to the publication, \u201cRecipes for milk-custard-based pecan pies can be found as early as 1824 in Mary Randolph’s [cookbook], The Virginia Housewife.\u201d But Rodgers explains that pecans, which are native to North America and come from the Algonquintribe\u2019s word for \u201cnut,\u201d \u201cwere not a big crop until after the Civil War and they were planted in Georgia and other Southern states.\u201d He adds: \u201cThere were many pies that used eggs and a sweetener, such as treacle, chess, maple syrup and sorghum [pies], so adding pecans was a natural progression.\u201d<\/p>\n

So the corn syrup manufacturer\u2019s staff \u201cinvented a pecan pie\u201d using corn syrup in a recipe \u201cthat was printed on every can,\u201d notes Rodgers.<\/p>\n
