说到option，相信大家都不陌生。option最核心的意思就是the act of choosing, selection。
比如：Her option was to quit school and start her own business.
option其他引申的含义还包括：
the freedom or power to choose
比如：we have the option of driving or taking the train.
我们可以选择驾车或乘火车。
此外，option在商业及股票领域，也有其衍生含义：
(Commerce) an exclusive opportunity, usually for a limited period, to buy something at a future date
通常指在有限的时间内，拥有独有的在未来某个时间购买某件东西的机会。
举例：he has a six-month option on the Canadian rights to this book.
关于这本书的加拿大版权，他有6个月的选择购买权。
option还可以做动词使用，to acquire or grant an option on (在……方面获取或授予选择权)
关于option的短语：keep/leave (one’s) options open （保留原则余地，暂不做决定）
举例1：You’re awfully young to be getting married. I just think you should keep your options open until you’re finished with college.
现在就结婚对于你而言还为时尚早。我的想法是，你应该暂时放一放，等到大学毕业后再做决定。
举例2：
They’ve offered me a good salary if I stay with the company, but I think I’d like to leave my options open for now.
如果我留下来，公司会给我提供丰厚的薪水。但是，现在我还是想等等再做决定。
